Poipu on the South Coast of Kauai

Poipu Beach (Map) and the surrounding South Shore area is home to several luxury hotels and a number of condo resorts. Poipu, in Kauai County, Hawaii, has only about 1,100 permanent residents, but is a magnet for sun seekers around the world. The South Coast region has the some of the best weather on the island of Kauai.

Poipu is an excellent location for family vacations. Activities include everything from snorkeling and surfing to shopping and sight seeing. The beautiful Beaches at Poipu are the main attraction with a universal appeal for young and old alike.

The Poipu Shopping Village has restaurants, entertainment, and gift stores. There are also excellent vegetable stands on the way to old Koloa town a few miles away. The Koloa Sunshine Market is a farmers market worth shopping too.

The photograph below is a gorgeous Poipu Beach sunset taken from the grounds of Kiahuna Plantation. Known for it's peaceful gardens and old time Hawaiian ambiance, Kiahuna, the only Poipu condo resort right on the beach, is understandably extremely popular.
